Short version: use the site, follow the guides, run your servers, have fun. Do not scrape us into bot farms or pretend our content is yours. That is it.

01 // Who we are

HostingBuff (“we”, “us”, “HostingBuff”) publishes free, vendor-neutral game server setup guides and tools at hostingbuff.com. The site is provided as-is for anyone who wants to learn how to host game servers.

02 // Acceptable use

You may:

  • Read, bookmark, and share any guide or blog post with credit back to hostingbuff.com
  • Quote short excerpts (up to ~200 words) in articles, videos, forum posts, and Discord servers with a link to the source page
  • Follow the tutorials on your own hardware, VPS, or game-hosting account without any fee to us
  • Use the interactive tools (wipe calendar, hosting calculator, port lookup) for personal or commercial projects

You may not:

  • Republish entire guides on other domains without written permission
  • Scrape the site at scale to train AI models without a licensing agreement
  • Strip affiliate links and pass the content off as your own
  • Use the site, its tools, or its commands to attack infrastructure you do not own or do not have explicit permission to test
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security-related features of the site

03 // Accuracy & technical accuracy

We put significant effort into verifying every command, version, and claim before publishing. Every guide is tested on a real Ubuntu/Windows machine before it goes live. That said:

  • Software changes. Commands that worked on the publish date may break when upstream tools (Pterodactyl, SteamCMD, PaperMC) release new versions.
  • We are not liable for data loss, server downtime, broken configurations, banned accounts, or anything else that may happen when you follow a guide. Back up your data before running any command you do not fully understand.
  • When you find something broken or out of date, email [email protected] and we will fix it, usually within 48 hours.

04 // Affiliate relationships

HostingBuff participates in the Hostinger and Nitrado affiliate programs. Full disclosure is on our affiliate disclosure page. Commissions never influence which product we recommend for a given use case — hardware recommendations are based on the game’s real resource requirements, not on commission amount.

05 // Third-party content

Guides reference third-party software including Pterodactyl, LinuxGSM, AMP (CubeCoders), WindowsGSM, SteamCMD, and many game server binaries. Those tools are governed by their own licenses — read them before deploying anything in production. HostingBuff is not affiliated with Facepunch Studios, Valve, Wildcard Studios, Mojang, Microsoft, CubeCoders, or any game publisher unless explicitly noted.

Game names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used here for identification and educational purposes under fair use.

06 // Our content license

Unless otherwise noted, all original text, diagrams, code examples, and interactive tools on HostingBuff are © 2026 HostingBuff. You may use short excerpts with attribution as described in section 02. For anything larger — commercial reuse, translation, bundling into training data — contact us for a license.

Code snippets published inside a guide (bash commands, server.properties examples, systemd units) are released under the MIT License. You can copy, modify, and deploy them freely, including commercially, without needing permission.

07 // Limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HostingBuff is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site, its guides, its tools, or any linked third-party service.

If you run a command from a guide and it deletes your world, your Rust database, your entire Linux VPS, or takes down your Discord community for a weekend — that is on you, not us. Always back up first, always read the command before you run it, always test on a disposable server before going to production.

08 // Service availability

The site is hosted on Netlify’s CDN and is usually available 24/7. We do not guarantee uptime. We may take pages down, rewrite them, redirect them, or remove entire sections without notice — including, in extreme cases, for legal reasons (a DMCA takedown, a cease-and-desist, etc.).

09 // Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be announced via the “Last updated” date at the top of the page and, when warranted, a banner on the homepage. Continuing to use the site after changes constitutes acceptance.

10 // Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be submitted to the competent courts in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction says otherwise.
